What Kind of Music Do You Sing?
Music is a vital part of our Blue Ridge UMC ministry and a key part of the Sunday morning worship experience. Because we know that musical tastes vary, we offer a variety of musical styles.
Our worship experience includes upbeat contemporary music led by our Worship Arts Director, Kevin Hershberger supported by New Song occasionally blending traditional hymns and anthems. Our service often includes special music provided by GPS, instrumental and vocal soloists.
WORSHIP and MUSIC
The people of all ages who participate in music groups at Blue Ridge not only have a deep love of music in their hearts, but love for the Lord and their church. Being disciples of Jesus, they give their talents and gifts, offering praise to God and helping to lead in worship. They find spiritual fulfillment in practicing,
learning, growing and communing with others. It is a continual part of their faith journey, and Blue Ridge is blessed with many wonderful volunteers. Perhaps you would like to make music a part of your church life. You are welcome to visit any time and get a feel for our different ensembles! Child care is available upon request for all adult groups.
Kevin Hershberger, our Worship Arts Director plans a variety of music for our inspiration and worship every Sunday.
BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS IN CHRIST THROUGH …
GPS stands for God’s People Singing and is exactly that: An ensemble of adults who love to sing praise to the Lord! Sometimes providing a musical SharePoint during a worship service, sometimes teaching the congregation a new worship song, GPS is for people with a song in their heart and a desire to sing it! Rehearsals are 7:15-7:55 Wednesday nights in the music room; anyone high school age and older is welcome.
New Song is the worship & praise team of Blue Ridge Church. Made up of singers & instrumentalists with a heart for worship, New Song meets at a different time than GPS. New Song’s primary focus is to follow the psalmist’s admonition to “sing a new song to the Lord” and to help lead the body in corporate worship. Please contact Kevin for more information about New Song.
Short-term offerings throughout the year for instrumentalists include large and small ensembles, orchestra, jazz band, solos, accompaniments.
Other ways youth and adults may share their gifts in the Blue Ridge Worship Ministry are: Drama, Liturgical Dance, Sound Board, and Video Team. If you cannot make a commitment to a worship arts group, but have a gift to share, we welcome your solo presentation during worship.
